It's ok
I rented a truck with a tow dolly to go from South Carolina to Texas on a one way trip. When I went to pick up the tow dolly, one of the front office guys was told to tell the shop guys to retrive the tow dolly and hook it up. He did not do as told and did it himself. I then asked him if he could get one of the shop guys to help me load my vehicle (a 2012 Chevy Colorado 2WD)on the tow dolly as I had never towed a truck before. He said I'm going to do it, and then said to me ok drive the truck up on the ramp. I did and he fastened the ropes to my trucks front tires. After traveling for about 10 or 15 mins I see people on the highway telling me to pull over. I do and see that my truck is coming off the tow dolly. I called the roadside # and waited an hour for a person to arrive. He then tells me this dolly is missing a safety pin that is why your truck was slipping off. He gets it back on, fills out a report stating what the issue was and we are on our way. We stop at a hotel and when I try to get my truck off the tow dolly it won't reverse. I had to call my car insurance roadside to assist me with getting the truck back on the tow dolly so I can make it to Texas and see about getting it fixed. The tow truck driver comes after 2 plus hours of waiting and tells me this truck was loaded incorrectly. He said when a 2 wheel drive vehicle is loaded with the front wheels off the ground the drive shaft is supposed to be disengaged other wise the transmission gets ruined. We finally made it to Texas and get my truck to the shop and sure enough the mechanic tells me yeah you need a new transmission. So now I have to pay over $2,500.00 for a new transmission all because the person who helped me load my truck on the tow dolly did not know what he was doing even though I asked him to have one of the shop guys help me. I have called the Penske office and was told this office where I rented from would call me back. I have not heard from anyone. I am not trying to have them pay all the expense of my truck but the least they can do is offer to help with something. My rental payment was sure taken out of my bank account in a day or so, but it's been a little over 2 weeks and I have not had anyone contact me about this incident.
