If I could give zero stars I would, this facility is knows for mistreating patients andnot giving patients medical care they need. Very disappointed with this, I hope at least somebody will see this and make the decision to go elsewhere. They are currently being investigated.
I have never been to this facility (never will due to pure fears of asylums, though I was placed at the Palmetto Pee Dee Behavioral Health Center in Florence for three months), but I have known a guy who was one of my roommates in Florence who was a patient at this place before being transferred; he told me that when he was there, it was “a sad, dark place, and that they’ll lock you into a room for hours and medicate you till you’re a vegetable.”
I have a loved one locked up in this facility against his will. I have tried to contact the social worker, nurses, and even the person who is supposedly the patient advocate.. I CAN NOT get a return call! This facility is highly understaffed. My loved one is overly medicated all the time! He is locked inside a room for 21 hrs a day. The staff lies abt how well he is treated and stated he has privileges to make calls and access to communicate openly with family! This is a total lie! The Doctor is a spiteful and vindictive individual who has not tried to even communicate with my family. I am discouraged daily to not help my family and told that every decision is left for the doctor. The nurse has informed us that our family member has to go before a judge In order to leave this place. I asked how family can be present at the court and was told family is not allowed inside the court room! The staff treats individuals like children instead of adults. Nurse Vickie who is head of nursing told me that my family member will never leave until He learned to show some respect for the Doctor! My family member had been there over a week before we were contacted that he was there. The staff did not communicate with him at all as to why he was there and what kind of treatment plan was in effect for him. They ignored him and left him locked inside a room with a total stranger. They continuously give him Ambien shots to keep him sedated. His first two days there he slept the whole time b/c he was so heavily medicated. This is a very powerful drug that should not be given to someone the way the staff is administering to him. They claim he is a danger to society but yet he has NEVER been in trouble with the law. He is a Military Veteran who fought for our county and they treat him like a dog! This place is only looking to collect a check! If he did not have benefits to pay for his stay he would be discharged by now! They should not be in business. I am posting on all social media sites that I can. I beg you not to use this facility! I am also contacting the local news networks and legal help! Nurse Vicky found this funny and even stated "in her 17 years of employment there, she has yet to see a lawyer that is able to get someone released from there."She stated the Doctor has all the power and what the Doctor says the judge will do! I was very uncomfortable listening to Nurse Vicky gush over her "Doctor" that is on staff! I pray I can get my family from there and I pray for all the other individuals that are there find peace and a way to be released from this prison b/c that is what this place is!
I was a travel nurse here and enjoyed the staff. But i felt it was not a good place to send patients. I have not worked at a hospital yet that had enough activities and educational materials for the pts. to learn about their mental disease and/or addictive personalities, traits, habits, etc. There are some very educated doctors, and medical staff that want to help, but this facility lacks "something". I am a little bit of a softy, when it comes to psych nursing, but i felt the pts. were not treated as adults by some staff and their "rights" were not always exercised. I woud not send a pt. here. Find a "Christian based hospital for your loved one.
They care a lot about your recovery and making sure you can return to a healthy quality of life. The food is a little greasy, but it's not bad--southern cooking. I've had a really good experience here, but the reviews scared me. Don't be afraid to come here this place has really done wonders for me.
