Today was the very first time I had been here and the staff and doctor Anna was amazing with my cevere macaw I will be taking her there from now on thanks everyone for treating my bird so well ❤️

I give two stars only because Sunset cared for my cat well for 10 years, however, they really dropped the ball this past year, and my precious boy would have died if he had remained under their care. My cat had lost 2.5 lbs (from 11 to 8.5 lbs) over the past year. After multiple vet visits, they diagnosed it as kidney failure. After continuous fluid treatment, my cat's appetite increased but he failed to gain weight no matter how much he ate. The weight loss did not seem to concern the three different vets we saw there, and no one was willing to look past his not-that-high kidney values. A second opinion from another veterinary clinic revealed low B12 levels due to inflammation in his intestines which was preventing him from gaining weight. This condition can cause an elevation in kidney values as was seen in my cat. A month into his treatment of steroids and B12 injections, my sweet boy is up a whole lb, looks healthier, acts happier, and is curious and acting like he did 3 years ago, and he's able to stay hydrated without subcutaneous fluids. If I had stayed with Sunset, my companion of 12 years would have wasted away before my eyes in a matter of months just because they weren't willing to do further tests (which I made abundantly clear we were more than willing and able to pay for, despite one of the vets continually bringing up cost to a degree that it was tacky). Further, Sunset is in need of an update in technology and knowledge of available local resources. All the bloodwork Sunset had to send out for, our new vet does in-office. The only result we had to send out was the B12 test, which Sunset never even considered. One vet at Sunset told us that we would need to drive to Charlotte for an ultrasound, but our new vet has that instrumentation in-office. Further, our new vet has far more reasonable hours, the ability to communicate via email, a mail-order pharmacy, and truly seems to love my sweet kitty. If your diagnosis at Sunset does not fully make sense for whatever reason, please seek a second opinion - it could save your pet's life. I used to think the world of the vets there till this happened and they callously just let my cat lose pound after pound without considering anything aside from kidney or thyroid problems, but now I will never take another animal to them.

It’s always a bit nerve-wracking to take your fur-baby to a doctor, especially after the last vet you visited had zero bedside manner. Dr. Foy eased all of those worries - he was great with my Alex, taking the time to play with him a bit and ask thorough questions to really show he had Alex’s best interest at heart. The clinic is also very affordable. We’ll definitely be back!

Took my roughly one year old bearded dragon because she was dragging herself around her habitat. Doctor bragged about his 20 yrs experience and how he worked at the zoo, claiming he could diagnose her as being gravid without any tests and stated he was "99% sure." A month later, after condition worsened, another vet diagnosed her with gout and kidney disease, saying there was no way she was ever with eggs and that the antibiotics the doctor from Sunset prescribed actually aggravated the condition. My beardie died within a week and a half. If the doctor from Sunset had run tests, the condition may have been caught sooner and possibly managed. When I informed Sunset about my beardie, I was blown off and treated rudely. I would not recommend this vet to anyone as the doctors seem to rely on reputation and hunches rather than tests and medicine.

They never say no... even took my rooster and did surgery to remove one eye...(he's ONE EYED JACK)... we love this place... doctors care about our furry and feathered babies.... and they will find a way to work you in.... they're a BIG FAT TEN.....
